New York Mayor Eric Adams to Crypto Industry: Come Build an Empire in NYC

He's still not in jail? I thought they caught him taking Azeri or Israeli or Russian bribes or all of the listed.
Nope, and it's actually pretty clever what happened. The judge in the case basically let him go (which is what Trump wanted) but in such a way that the DoJ can't ever relitigate it (something Trump didn't want).
Justice was denied, imo, but under the circumstances, the judge managed to thread the needle and keep Trump from being able to blackmail him into doing his bidding.

“This is the Empire State,” Adams said at a press briefing at Gracie Mansion on Monday. “We should be looking forward to building empires, particularly in the crypto space.”
Adams, who is running for reelection, reiterated his commitment to making New York City a crypto hub, telling reporters that he would work with tech and crypto companies, both big and small, to create a friendly environment to attract them and help them succeed.
“My goal remains the same as it was on day one as mayor: making New York City the crypto capital of the globe,” Adams said. His remarks echo similar pledges from President Donald Trump, who has repeatedly said he wants to make the U.S. the “crypto capital of the planet.”
Crypto is a solution looking for a problem.
The people behind crypto never studied the history of the gold standard.
Crypto is a ponzi scheme virtual asset, not a currency.

Why is it so hard to get rid of that knobhead?
-
The crypto industry produces so little jobs. Just conceptually server farms that run single applications or pretty much marketing firms that make advertising coin dumps. Companies that employ single digit people locally
Scams are never job-producing schemes. The scammers want to extract the maximum amount of cash from the rubes with the minimum of overheads.

You can call people you don't need rhwm to move in to get insider.
Why would they tell him anything unless he's done something for them?

I think it's about time NYC survived on their own water. Have fun.

Why is it so hard to get rid of that knobhead?
Elections are coming up, Adams is extremely unpopular in the city and I expect him to get voted out. Unfortunately, We have Andrew Cuomo trying to regain some of the power he once had, but I don't think his chances are great outside of name recognition.
Personally, I'm not registered in NYC but everyone I know there is putting their support behind Zohran Mamdani.

I sincerely hope the voters throw this guy out on his ass and then follow up with new indictments to replace the charges he had dismissed. Guy is pure corrupt scum.
