New York Mayor Eric Adams to Crypto Industry: Come Build an Empire in NYC

"Running for re election. "
NY you've gotten to know this grifter, if you choose him again may you fall as hard as your towers. For this stupidity though, there will be no sympathy.
schrieb am 13. Mai 2025, 05:30 zuletzt editiert vonLet's be frank about it, the second he dropped the (D) after his name, he officially became a lame duck. Even if people were willing to overlook the corruption and the corruption to get out of the trial for his corruption, no non-Democrat is going to get elected Mayor of NYC in the near future.

“This is the Empire State,” Adams said at a press briefing at Gracie Mansion on Monday. “We should be looking forward to building empires, particularly in the crypto space.”
Adams, who is running for reelection, reiterated his commitment to making New York City a crypto hub, telling reporters that he would work with tech and crypto companies, both big and small, to create a friendly environment to attract them and help them succeed.
“My goal remains the same as it was on day one as mayor: making New York City the crypto capital of the globe,” Adams said. His remarks echo similar pledges from President Donald Trump, who has repeatedly said he wants to make the U.S. the “crypto capital of the planet.”

schrieb am 13. Mai 2025, 05:56 zuletzt editiert vonFrom everything I've read, the New York constitution allows her to remove him since he has been charged. Though it may be too late now.
The common theory is she didn't want a special election that Cuomo could win without going through a primary.

schrieb am 13. Mai 2025, 06:04 zuletzt editiert vonNope, and it's actually pretty clever what happened. The judge in the case basically let him go (which is what Trump wanted) but in such a way that the DoJ can't ever relitigate it (something Trump didn't want).
Justice was denied, imo, but under the circumstances, the judge managed to thread the needle and keep Trump from being able to blackmail him into doing his bidding.

The people behind crypto never studied the history of the gold standard.
Crypto is a ponzi scheme virtual asset, not a currency.

Why is it so hard to get rid of that knobhead?
schrieb am 13. Mai 2025, 13:42 zuletzt editiert vonElections are coming up, Adams is extremely unpopular in the city and I expect him to get voted out. Unfortunately, We have Andrew Cuomo trying to regain some of the power he once had, but I don't think his chances are great outside of name recognition.
Personally, I'm not registered in NYC but everyone I know there is putting their support behind Zohran Mamdani .
