Google confirms more ads on your paid YouTube Premium Lite soon

I heard good things about play music but I was super pov when that existed and didn't pay for any online stuff, it was piracy or nothing.
Thats the exact same reason I have YouTube music.
schrieb am 6. Juni 2025, 05:18 zuletzt editiert vonThat was the reason to use Play Music when it was a thing. Upload all your torrented music and stream it for free.

It will literally never end.
This is why anyone who was excusing advertising at all is part of the problem and should be seen as a useful idiot.
Stop lowering your standards so people richer than you can be even richer.

I've had no issues with adblocker for over half a year. Works flawlessly on both browser and mobile browser.

Problem solved! I don't need to think about this premium stuff any more. Recently, I've been playing with the idea of paying for premium, but that's no longer the case. Specifically, the family pack is the one that kinda made some limited sense in the past. I can see the kind of game Google is playing, and I'm not planning to participate.

Is it in decline? I mean, I want to believe it, but I haven’t seen any hard data on that.

The ad based system the internet is built on is unraveling.

Oh I know, I’ve been here for years despite the age of my account. I just migrated from lemm.ee
I tend not to like to name these types of extensions because more exposure puts them at risk, and they’re super easy to find anyway.
schrieb am 6. Juni 2025, 05:36 zuletzt editiert vonuBlock is already pretty much known as the best adblocker in the internet. Not sure what more exposure it could get.

Or, and hear me out: just install a browser plugin and forget ads exist.
I hesitate to name extensions names, but I’ve literally never seen an ad on YouTube.
These companies don’t respect us, so I don’t feel the need to respect them by allowing them to force their meaningless bullshit down my throat.
I don’t use it that much, but you better believe if I go to YouTube to watch a video, that video is the only thing I’m watching.

The entities that work against extensions like uBO are already well aware of their existence, so hiding their names has no benefit.
Case in point - uBlock and uBlock Origin are not the same, with the former being a bastardised version that does 'acceptable ads'. There are plenty of other poor blocking options out there for the unsuspecting to stumble into besides that.
Personal setup is Librewolf/uBO on the client and pfBlockerNG/Snort for network level blocking/additional security layer.
And welcome to .zip
Hope you enjoy the new home!

Lul I have uBlock origin and no ads for free

Youtube Music is pretty much just youtube with a different UI - the videos are the same. The audio quality is whatever's uploaded, so it'll vary a lot song to song.
schrieb am 6. Juni 2025, 05:55 zuletzt editiert vonThere is another benefit - it can be played in the background if I remember properly.

ofif there was a family tier that plays YouTube without ads in my country. The content I watch is good and authors deserve payment IMO. Sadly there is currently no competition, there are some marginal subscription services and there is peertube which doesn't have monetization. -

YT is only usable with ad blockers nowadays. And then it does not make a difference if you have a subscription or not.
I would subscribe YT if they had a reasonably priced ad free tier, but if it does not make a difference, I'll watch it for free.

Oh good, I’m not missing out then. I moved around quite a bit between Deezer, Tidal, random piracy in FLAC until finally landing on Apple Music.
schrieb am 6. Juni 2025, 06:25 zuletzt editiert vonI've resorted back to piracy, but mostly cuz my taste in music confuses the hell out of the algorithms: I'm a fan of symphonic metal, and seeding one of those songs as the start of a playlist on something like YT music will land you with a combination of heavy death metal and renaissance fair music.
If I ever find one that can actually distinguish sub-genres of metal, then sign me the fuck up!!

Genuinely though, the point of YouTube premium is to get rid of the ads...
We seem to be making cable TV again where you pay a premium for the privilege of being advertised to
