It is common in the military to give commissioned rank to certain positions for the higher pay grade. The fast tracking takes away from the belief everyone serving with you went through (roughly) the same basic training as you.

Even those that also care about privacy, if they just want a solution that comes by default, this adtech 'fake' or 'superficial' solution does provide something. And anything is more than nothing.

This “study” is biased by design. But also even if it weren’t , one study does not prove anything. You’d need a lot more evidence than that.

I use it for my self hosted apps, but yeah, it's rarely useful for websites in the wild.
