  • More educated than you, I can almost guarantee :). Some people call me Doctor, though I think that should be reserved for science and medicine. What’s yours btw? Degree in gender studies or arts? The lefts obsession with calling everyone they disagree with “uneducated” is so pathetic.

What are you talking about with regards to the contents of the ads? The “issue” that some people pretend to have is that they don’t think ads should be shown near content they deem hateful. It’s not the contents of the ads that people complain about. As for that complaint, only dimwit sees an ad and instantly thinks that the company the ad is for supports whatever views are shared in the same vicinity of it. In reality it was just a way for the left to try and guilt advertisers into leaving Twitter because they were upset that Elon ruined their safe space.

    Some people call me Doctor,

Oh really? I can almost always tell because it's obvious in breath, depth and consideration shown in of the replies.

The “issue” that some people pretend to have is that they don’t think ads should be shown near content they deem hateful.

I sincerely can't believe that someone who claims to be on par with a doctor doesn't even entertain the possibility that the content of an ad could be problematic on a sociological level. And that's on top of misconstruing the point I was making.

You mean the advertisers of big corporations who care about their brand image don't like that, right doctor?

Do you think that that article you linked is saying that the content of the ads are "hateful" or "problematic"? That's not what it's talking about. It's talking about showing normal ads near "hateful" content.

You mean the advertisers of big corporations who care about their brand image don’t like that, right doctor?

They only care when a bunch of idiots pretend that having an ad in the vicinity of something they don't like means that the brand supports the thing they don't like. They don't actually care, they just pretended to so they could essentially blackmail companies into pulling advertising dollars from Twitter so they could try and harm twitter.

Did you not realise that? Did you really think that it was just a coincidence that all of a sudden it became some giant issue just as elon musk bought Twitter?

Oh really? I can almost always tell because it’s obvious in breath, depth and consideration shown in of the replies.
    ...
    right doctor?

Love it - when you try to make fun of me when you think I'm "uneducated" and it falls flat on its face because I'm more educated than you, you then try to make fun of me for being more educated than you lol. Amazing.

You also didn't answer my question, while I answered yours. That's not very nice. What is your highest level of education and, if it was higher than high school, what was the area/qualification?

Studies indicate a link between the ad and its emotionally charged context to viewers. [1] [2] I know that Musk claimed that several times, almost verbatim as you said it, but it's not exactly true. And I also know because I've had that visceral reaction to an ad being 'misplaced'. I don't think it's an empty claim at all, and the company has every right to decide where to show their ads and why.

Did you not realise that? Did you really think that it was just a coincidence that all of a sudden it became some giant issue just as elon musk bought Twitter?

Like how Elon made it a huge deal himself by publicly telling companies to 'go fuck yourself' if they didn't like it his way?

you then try to make fun of me for being more educated than you lol. Amazing

Nope, this is not a pissing contest. This is a can-you-piss test because I think your takes don't reflect your level of education. I can count at least two that I find quite baffling, so I had to ask.

Studies can be - and often are - made to show anything. Having family members who work in the research industry I know for a fact, because they would often get approached to do a study to get a particular result. If they refuse, someone who needs the money will gladly do it. It's the same way that any lawyer can find an "expert" to support their desired position in court.

Like how Elon made it a huge deal himself by publicly telling companies to ‘go fuck yourself’ if they didn’t like it his way?

My point was that no one cared about where their ads showed on Twitter until Elon bought it, and then all of a sudden it was this major issue. It was performative and it was being used to try to blackmail them, that's why he said what he said.

Nope, this is not a pissing contest.

It was when you thought you could piss higher and further than me ;). Funny that. I find your takes baffling, so I'm asking - what is your level of education?

Elon immediately fired the content moderating team. The racist hash tags showed up and then Elmo defended them and told advertisers to go fuck themselves if they disagreed. Why are you dead-set about blaming the media? Lol

It was when you thought you could piss higher

Bruh. Lol I made my point, and I still don't hear anything reasonable from you to correct that. You sure it's on me to talk that big and walk so small? What was that you said about cisgender again?

  • If you still use twitter (no, asshole, you don't get to own a letter of the alphabet - fuck off) then you are part of the problem.

I prefer to call it Xitter, with the X pronounced the Chinese way

  • This post did not contain any content.

Eu please put up or shut up. Either hold X accountable, or just say they are big to regulate and can do whatever

  • It such a large network and great at blasting information out. Lots of youtuber/livestreamers still have to eXcrete on x or less they loose their audience. And it's not just video, writers also depends on the big ole X megaphone to aunuce book releases, beta reader applications etc etc.

Honestly furry artists are probably the freest from X since they have so many of their own social media sites.

You X following even is part of the reason for publishers to pick up your book.

Add to that some police departments actually use to send amber alerts.

You just have the world's largest public megaphone in an attention based economy. People can't leave for anything smaller.

  • For those people they should all contact the government agencies that are still on Twitter and demand they switch to Bluesky.

Or self host a mastodon server.

    Great points, except:

People can’t leave for anything smaller.

They can and some do. It’s still a choice.

  • Or mastodon.

Been using Mastodon for about two years now and never going back.

  • Because Twitter is the only social media site that isn’t a highly censored echo chamber.

Since Musk took over, the censorship requests went from 50% accepted to 80% accepted.

  • This post did not contain any content.

elon has never liked community notes; they were just a holdover from old twitter and he's been desperate to get rid of it.

  • I'd rather "trust" a company that cuts the bullshit with notices like

The stories and information posted here are artistic works of fiction and falsehood.
Only a fool would take anything posted here as fact.

to remind the user that trusting noncredible information from unreliable sources is a ridiculous concept.

So, 4chan. You want Twitter to be 4chan.

    Education level when?

  • I prefer to call it Xitter, with the X pronounced the Chinese way

Yep, this should be standard practice.

And we can call individual messages Xits.

  • Education level when?

I mean, your reasonable takes when, mr doctor? I love how you latched onto the pissing bit instead of matching your statements and priorities to your claimed level of education. If you claim to walk, then walk. You claim to run, so let's see it.

Oh, and I still need evidence of fraud for the studies (not to be confused with how long you claim your dick to be, in case you get fixated on another stupid pissing contest to conveniently divert from the topic).

  • Great points, except:

technically yes but if leaving means you loose half your income then is it really a choice.

  • technically yes but if leaving means you loose half your income then is it really a choice.

Of course, but it needn’t be black and white. You can also diversify, make yourself less reliant on a single platform. And by doing so, enable your audience to follow you elsewhere. Or diversify into different activities altogether. And when it’s no longer half your income on the line, then switch.

But doing nothing and saying, “but half my income!”? That’s not only a choice, but also complacency.

Quanta is a science rag. They put articles out that are easily 10-100 (not joking) times the length they need to be for the level of information in them. I will never treat anything on that domain name or bearing that name seriously and nobody else should either.

True, they will always play the victim even as they're hurting and exploiting people they see as less than. Don't allow them to have any evidence of credibility. I think his idea of hell would probably be having to lower himself to the standard of living most people would consider normal and comfortable. Having to learn to actually survive day to day if he were to find himself suddenly without a cent of the money he was born into and all future wages and earnings garnished to pay the people he has harmed, would probably be a fate worse than any hell he could imagine. I know there's no justice and there is pretty much no chance of him ever facing any sort of proportional punishment or consequence for his actions. But, if I could make it happen, having to suddenly learn to survive with the rest of us mortals in the society he has helped create, in his late fifties, wondering how he will even afford something as basic as healthcare while his body rapidly ages from stress and gradually falls apart, after a lifetime of unimaginable privilege, unable to go anywhere or do anything he enjoys without being recognized and having people curse his name. That would be the fate I would wish on somebody like him.

Incredibly well said. And couldn't agree more! Especially after working as a game dev for Apple Arcade. We spent months proving to them their saving architecture was faulty and would lead to people losing their save file for each Apple Arcade game they play. We were ignored, and then told it was a dev problem. Cut to the launch of Arcade: every single game has several 1 star reviews about players losing their save files. This cannot be fixed by devs as it's an Apple problem, so devs have to figure out novel ways to prevent the issue from happening using their own time and resources. 1.5 years later, Apple finishes restructuring the entire backend of Arcade, fixing the problem. They tell all their devs to reimplement the saving architecture of their games to be compliant with Apples new backend or get booted from Arcade. This costs devs months of time to complete for literally zero return (Apple Arcade deals are upfront - little to no revenue is seen after launch). Apple used their trillions of dollars to ignore a massive backend issue that affected every player and developer on Apple Arcade. They then forced every dev to make an update to their game at their own expense just to keep it listed on Arcade. All while directing user frustration over the issue towards developers instead of taking accountability for launching a faulty product. Literally, these companies are run by sociopaths that have egos bigger than their paychecks. Issues like this are ignored as it's easier to place the blame on someone down the line. People like your manager end up getting promoted to the top of an office heirachy of bullshit, and everything the company makes just gets worse until whatever corpse is left is sold for parts to whatever bigger dumb company hasn't collapsed yet. It's really painful to watch, and even more painful to work with these idiots.

I made a PayPal account like 20 years ago in a third world country. The only thing you needed then is an email and password. I have no real name on there and no PII, technically my bank card is attached but on PP itself there's no KYC. I think you could probably use some types of prepaid cards with it if you want to avoid using a bank altogether but for me this wasn't an issue, I just didn't want my ID on any records, I don't have any serious OpSec concerns otherwise. I'm sure you could either buy PayPal accounts like this if you needed to, or make one in a country that doesn't have KYC laws somehow. From there I'd add money to my balance and send money as F&F. At no point did I need an ID so in that sense there's no KYC. Some sellers on localmarket were fancy enough to list that they wanted an ID for KYC, but I'm sure you could just send them any random ID you made in paint from the republic of dave and you'd be fine.
