I feel like that's where we're headed at this point. Major corps have all the tech and all the money. At this point we are seeing every new iteration of consumer tech/electronics costing more, lasting less time, and offering no greater value than previous iterations while sometimes actually taking away features and functionality in the process. They know they are the only game in town now and they only have to offer what they feel is enough to placate their clientele--if they even choose to go that far. People grumble, then they pay. AI will replace people in many of these situations and it will suck and be less helpful and very problematic but that's the best they're going to offer. If anyone comes along trying to offer anything better they'll be swiftly dealt with by defeating and/or buying them out. There will probably be like 5 corps that own everything one day (maybe that's too many--3? 2 perhaps? I just can't see it being 1 for some reason)

It's like pidgeon chess, isn't it? Things are clear and well-studied, but people like you think that ignorance is a virtue and that something that you don't know can't be known by anyone else.

Yeah, I get "severe weather" notifications on my phone, even when the storm isn't super concerning (and certainly not in my area). I do make decisions based on that, and I get plenty of notice. None of this is sourced from Google, it's purely our government's notification system.

Thanks. Absolutely my experience too. The ones where you can't edit the email I noticed often used the email as username, and probably god knows how bad is the code on the backend.

I use IronFox all the time. For me almost nothing is broken. Once a year I find one low value site that I have to load in Cromite to see what it is, and then I never use that trash site again. In other words, IronFox fulfills 100% of all my browsing needs excellently. I used Mull before IronFox, and my experience there was excellent as well. There is no good reason to use Chrome today or even some years back when Mull was the thing.

AI needs to be regulated with an energy cap. If you need more capacity, optimise your AI. Don't just throw more electricity at it.

Let's not? I think we've had enough robots with AI for now. Thank you.

Worse. Office.com now takes me to m365.cloud.microsoft which as of today now takes me to a fucking Copilot chat window. Ofc no way to disable it because gee why would anyone want to do that?
