Thanks for the information. I found this specific clause very ... porous. Clarification — commercial purpose 6 For greater certainty, for the purpose of section 5, an organization that incidentally and not deliberately provides a service that is used to search for, transmit, download, store or access content on the Internet that is alleged to constitute pornographic material does not make available pornographic material on the Internet for commercial purposes. So... I guess Bing will once again be my goto incidental indeliberate porn search engine. And reddit. And Lemmy. https://www.parl.ca/DocumentViewer/en/45-1/bill/S-209/first-reading Surprisingly, a conservative senator had a fairly well reasoned, and cautious, (although still supportive), response speech. https://sencanada.ca/en/content/sen/chamber/451/debates/008db_2025-06-10-e#66 It still has a long way to goto get through senate committee and house readings and committees and all that. Still, might be a good time to scrape all the porn.

As someone else mentioned: Helion Energy: Located in Everett, Helion is developing a magneto-inertial fusion technology and has announced plans for the world's first fusion power plant in Washington State. They have also secured a significant investment and a power purchase agreement with Microsoft for electricity from their fusion plant. Zap Energy: Also based in Everett, Zap Energy is focusing on developing affordable, compact, and scalable fusion energy technology. They are working towards a commercially viable fusion energy solution and have received visits from state leaders to witness their progress. Avalanche Energy: Avalanche is planning a facility in Eastern Washington for commercial-scale testing of radioactive fusion technologies, according to GeekWire.

I wonder if they could develop this into a tooth coating. Preventing biofilms would go a long way to preventing cavities.

Isn't that arguably the nature of encryption, though? If you lose the key, you're SOL by design.

I see your point but also I just genuinely don't have a mind for that shit. Even my own close friends and family, it never pops into my head to ask about that vacation they just got back from or what their kids are up to. I rely on social cues from others, mainly my wife, to sort of kick start my brain. I just started a new job. I can't remember who said they were into fishing and who didn't, and now it's anxiety inducing to try to figure out who is who. Or they ask me a friendly question and I get caught up answering and when I'm done I forget to ask it back to them (because frequently asking someone about their weekend or kids or whatever is their way of getting to share their own life with you, but my brain doesn't think that way). I get what you're saying. It could absolutely be used for performative interactions but for some of us people drift away because we aren't good at being curious about them or remembering details like that. And also, I have to sit through awkward lunches at work where no one really knows what to talk about or ask about because outside of work we are completely alien to one another. And it's fine. It wouldn't be worth the damage it does. I have left behind all personally identifiable social media for the same reason. But I do hate how social anxiety and ADHD makes friendship so fleeting.
