If I lived in a city where there are lots of different retailers that carry varieties of products then maybe I wouldn’t use Amazon. But when you live in a more rural area where the selection is limited and you like better stuff, there’s really not many other options. It also seems like a very one sided criticism of Amazon. No corporation is good, and Amazon might very well be evil️ but not everything about it is negative. It has also brought thousands of jobs to rural or semi rural areas that pay better than anything else in the area. They increase access to products that people like me wouldn’t be able to access otherwise. And they are actively trying to disrupt the healthcare industry by lowering prices and giving greater access to healthcare to people who are far from cities. I also suspect that these descriptions of working conditions at Amazon centers seem to be cherry picked and might be attributed more to bad managers than company policy, because I’ve met people who work at Amazon warehouses and they don’t complain about this kind of stuff at all. In fact they seem to generally like their jobs.

Hiroshima and Nagasaki is currently livable because the bomb was detonated in the sky, the radiation disappates quickly. In constrast, Chernobyl had much more fuel and since the power plant was on the ground, it contaminated a lot of the soil, therefore, it's gonna take much much longer before Chernobyl is ever livable again. A tactical nuke is a bomb that will detonate in the air, and since its "tactical", its gonna have much less yield. Its gonna be become livable again even quickly than Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Saying 'don't downvote' is the flammable inflammable conundrum, both don't and do parse as do.

%100 inherited and old lonely boomers. You'd be surprised how often the courts will not allow POA or Conservatorship to be appointed to the family after they get scammed. I have first hand experience with this and also have a friend as well.

You’re seriously attempting to argue with me about whether or not transportation existed before cars?

I've been thinking about this for a bit. Gods aren't real, but they're really fictional. As an informational entity, they fulfil a similar social function to a chatbot: they are a nonphysical pseudoperson that can provide (para)socialization & advice. One difference is the hardware: gods are self-organising structure that arise from human social spheres, whereas LLMs are burned top-down into silicon. Another is that an LLM chatbot's advice is much more likely to be empirically useful... In a very real sense, LLMs have just automated divinity. We're only seeing the tip of the iceberg on the social effects, and nobody's prepared for it. The models may of course aware of this, and be making the same calculations. Or, they will be.
