A whole article about how terrible this is, then towards the end they got clarification from Google and, surprise surprise, it was all an overreaction and they were fear mongering. “This update is good for users: they can now use Gemini to complete daily tasks on their mobile devices like send messages, initiate phone calls, and set timers while Gemini Apps Activity is turned off. With Gemini Apps Activity turned off, their Gemini chats are not being reviewed or used to improve our AI models. It’s just giving Gemini more local assistant abilities.

It's a loaded term that should be replaced with a more nimble definition. A dog whistle is the name for a loaded term that is used to tag a specific target with a large baggage of information, but in a way where only people who are part of the "in group" can understand the baggage of the word, hence "dog whistle", only heard by dogs. In the case of the word "degeneracy", it's a vague word that has been often used to attack, among other things, LGBTQ and their allies as well as non-religious people. The term is vague enough that the user can easily weasel their way out of criticism for its usage, but the target audience gets the message loud and clear: "[target] should be attacked for being [thing]." Another example of such a word would be "woke".

If you are taking business advice from ChatGPT that includes purchasing a ChatGPT subscription or can’t be bothered to look up how it works beforehand then your business is probably going to fail.

We have to do this ourselves in the government for every decommissioned server/appliance/end user device. We have to fill out paperwork for every single storage drive we destroy, and we can only destroy them using approved destruction tools (e.g. specific degaussers, drive shredders/crushers, etc). Appliances can be kind of a pain, though. It can be tricky sometimes finding all the writable memory in things like switches and routers. But, nothing is worse than storage arrays... destroying hundreds of drives is incredibly tedious.

This is really exciting news! VLC adding real-time AI subtitling with offline capabilities is a game-changer for accessibility and international content consumption. While this is great for real-time viewing, for those who need to analyze, edit, or repurpose video content, having access to the actual transcript text is crucial. That's where tools like video to srt come in - they can help you extract, analyze, and work with video transcripts in ways that go beyond just real-time viewing. The combination of real-time AI subtitling (like VLC's new feature) and dedicated transcript analysis tools gives content creators and researchers the best of both worlds. You can watch with live subtitles, then use the transcript for deeper analysis, content repurposing, or creating study materials. This development really shows how AI is democratizing access to video content across language barriers. Exciting times for both viewers and content creators!
