I mean theoretically things could be anonymized for the AI, with only the charts with identifiers present, I'd imagine assuming the AI itself stays locked into the EHR system and isn't say outsourced to one of the big AI firms. With those conditions it's, roughly the same privacy as the existance of EHR in general. As far as practical/legal/ethical, that comes down to how they market it to doctors. Personally I think it could be a useful tool for a doctor to "second opinion" himself. IE reach his own conclusion first, then hit the AI, see if it noticed something he missed. Though the obvious fear is of course going to be lazy or rushed doctors, working in a hospital that's pushing them to see the most patients possible in an hour, rewarding the doctors that walk in, hand the patient their AI diagnosis, and move into the next room. Which... well in modern America we all know this is what's going to be pushed. The tools have amazing potential when used appropriately.... but for profit healthcare has all the wrong incentives, and they will see this as a tool to magnify them.

Ingesting all the artwork you ever created by obtaining it illegally and feeding it into my plagarism remix machine is theft of your work, because I did not pay for it. Separately, keeping a copy of this work so I can do this repeatedly is also stealing your work. The judge ruled the first was okay but the second was not because the first is "transformative", which sadly means to me that the judge despite best efforts does not understand how a weighted matrix of tokens works and that while they may have some prevention steps in place now, early models showed the tech for what it was as it regurgitated text with only minor differences in word choice here and there. Current models have layers on top to try and prevent this user input, but escaping those safeguards is common, and it's also only masking the fact that the entire model is built off of the theft of other's work.

That they didn't have enough technicians trained in this to be able to ensure that one was always available during working hours, or at least when it was glaringly obvious that one was going to be needed that day, is . . . both extremely and obviously stupid, and par for the course for a corp whose sole purpose is maximizing profit for the next quarter.

It kinda seems like you don’t understand the actual technology.

This is terrible news. I also have a keyboard-centric workflow and also make heavy use of keyword bookmarks. I too use custom bookmarklets containing JavaScript that I can invoke with a few key strokes for multiple uses including: 1: Auto-expanding all nested Reddit comments on posts with many comments on desktop. 2: Downloading videos from certain web sites. 3: Playing a play-by-forum online board game. 4: Helping expand and aid in downloading images from a certain host. 5: Sending X (Twitter) URLs in the browser bar to Nitter or TWStalker. And all these without touching the mouse! It's really disappointing to read that Firefox could be taking so much capability in the browser away.

Internet access should be a utility like electricity and water until all three, along with housing, medicine, and food, can be free to all.
