Shouldn't the point of prison rehabilitation be that the inmates be encouraged to build stronger social connections to reduce recidivism?

  • Shouldn't the point of prison rehabilitation be that the inmates be encouraged to build stronger social connections to reduce recidivism? Isolating and further punishing them like this seems like it's going to make it more difficult to rebuild their lives post incarceration.

    post incarceration.

Author of this article is serving a life sentence. He's been in prison over 15 years so far, and won't be eligible for parole for another 52 years, at which time he will be 97 years old.

"Post incarceration", he'll be mailed to his next of kin in a tiny plastic bag. There is no "rebuilding" of his life after incarceration. This is the rest of his life.

I do think he should be earning at least minimum wage for his work while imprisoned. But, $6.25 of his $7.25/hr wages should be garnished and divided among the estates of his victim(s). If they refuse the money, the state should offer the job to any other prisoner whose victims will actually accept restitution.

I'd go so far as to intercept up to 75% of the funds deposited into his commissary account as victim restitution.

The topic is more nuanced, all the logs indicate email/password combos that were compromised. While it is possible this is due to a malware infection, it could be something as simple as a phishing website. In this case, credentials are entered but no "malware" was installed. The point being it doesn't look great that someone has ANY compromises... But again, anyone who's used the Internet a bit has some compromised. For example, in a password manager (especially the one on iPhone), you'll often be notified of all your potentially compromised accounts. [image: 7a5e8350-e47e-4d67-b096-e6e470ec7050.jpeg]

There are some autonomous cars with lidar out there where the lidar is so powerful it can wreck a camera close up, but is still safe for eyes. Switch up FaceID to use a more powerful laser which will wreck the phones camera, and start making webcams for non macs that are required to have this in them for Teams to work.

Probably, and I'll denounce and blame them for this just the same. My moral compass is that copyright shouldn't exist to begin with. Cool but that issue is not in play here. That is not even close to a mainstream position and none of the actual players in this are working towards that outcome. Taking one side of this on that basis is silly.

So you are against having machines do the work of blue collar workers? We should all be out in the fields with plows instead of using a tractor and assembling everything by hand in factories?

Which is the problem. ICE would not be able to legally subpoena these companies for our data, so they buy it from them as a loophole. Using our tax dollars, of course.

Which customrom [...] are you using? Stock (for now), but rooted and modded slightly because I'm a firm proponent of owning the device for which I paid a shitload of money. Which [...] dnsblocking are you using? I use hosts-based adblocking via AdAway (from F-Droid). Root required. Not the reason I rooted, but a nice benefit to having full and complete control of MY device.
