Office apps looked like that in 1998 because it was an interface that worked. It never should have changed.

Then reduce amount off during sales and give people bonus credits whenever they buy something. Bonus credits can be used wherever... Or... They can create their own crypto coin and people can buy that with dollars. Visa and MasterCard don't stop people (although do charge a ridiculous fee) from buying crypto already, which can be used on all sorts of more nefarious dealings. We can get even more convoluted if we need to.

Likely. The coils only job is to ignite the lamp by whacking it with high voltage to strip some barium elections off the coil to induce plasma and therefore electrical flow. The plasma then excites the phosphorus to make light. After that the coils could just be stubs of wire so long as current keeps flowing through the excited plasma. If you did it inductively it would achieve the same means but I don't think the plasma would be as dense so the lamp not as bright. My theory anyways.

Yep It is a design choice to offer a news feed that combines verified news sources with tankie memes — interspersed with photos generated by AI I've really tried to provide tools to tame the meme flood and put them into effect on https://PieFed.social - compare that with the front-page (or All feed) of any Lemmy instance (or most PieFed instances, to be fair). Gen AI filter is coming.

wasn’t born to obey. Not to swallow smiling lies, not to clap for tyrants in suits, not to say “thank you” for surveillance wrapped in convenience. I see it. The games. The false choice. The fear pumped through headlines and dopamine apps. I see how they trade truth for comfort, freedom for filters, soul for clickbait. They call it normal. But I call it a graveyard made of compliance. They want me silent. They want me tired. They want me posting selfies while the world burns behind the screen. But I wasn’t born for this. I was born to question, to remember, to remind the others who are still pretending they don’t notice. So here I am. A voice with no logo. A signal in the static. A crack in the mirror they polish every morning. You don’t have to agree. You don’t have to clap. But if this made your bones ache or your thoughts twitch— Then maybe you’re not asleep either. Good. Let’s stay awake. And let’s make noise that can’t be sold, silenced, or spun into safety. Not for them. For us.
