Brits can get around Discord's age verification thanks to Death Stranding's photo mode, bypassing the measure introduced with the UK's Online Safety Act. We tried it and it works—thanks, Kojima

They didn't ask what the comic was, they asked "but why not both?". It can be both unethical and a lesson

No, they banned it because they don’t like pride flags being replaced, or male and female being the sex options, or black characters being replaced with more historically accurate white ones (no issue with the opposite though, shock horror). It had nothing to do with trolling or the comments section or throwaway accounts. It was ideological. Yes, they can do what they want with their site. I agree. I didn’t say they can’t. I just pointed out what they do. If they banned mods that put pride flags everywhere it wouldn’t bother me one bit. People can mod their single player games however they want, I don’t care.

No, LCOE is an aggregated sum of all the cash flows, with the proper discount rates applied based on when that cash flow happens, complete with the cost of borrowing (that is, interest) and the changes in prices (that is, inflation). The rates charged to the ratepayers (approved by state PUCs) are going to go up over time, with inflation, but the effect of that on the overall economics will also be blunted by the time value of money and the interest paid on the up-front costs in the meantime. When you have to pay up front for the construction of a power plant, you have to pay interest on those borrowed funds for the entire life cycle, so that steadily increasing prices over time is part of the overall cost modeling.

The amount of times the shit breaks down combined with the slower speeds means it doesn't really matter if they work 24/7 right now. Yes, robots are coming, but amazon has been acting like they will be here tomorrow since it's inception. The reality is robots that cost less than people that at least do comparable work in the same time frame is still a decade or 2 away optimistically. Amazon trying to force it doesn't change that. Amazon is to robots what meta is to vr. Dumping tons of money trying to force the 'future' today.

Call me an optimist, but I still hold the hope that we can one day do better as humanity than we do now. Humanity has become a "better" species throughout its existence overall. Even a hundred years ago we were much more horrible and brutal than we are now. The current trend is not great, with climate change and far-right grifters taking control. But I hold hope that in the end this is but a blip on the radar. Horrible for us now, but in the grand scheme of things not something that will end humanity. It might in the worst case set us back a few hundred years.

I've made some updates. There are many perspectives to view a guide like this. I hope there are some improvements to the self-hosting perspective. https://getoffpocket.com/
