Bad take imo. The Wan Show (the podcast this clip is from) has been around for over 12 years and started back when live video podcasts were hardly a thing, so I feel like it should get at least part of an exception to the "2 guys sitting at microphones" point. Many people in here seem to dislike LTT for some variety of reasons, some valid, some not, but I don't think their podcast existing should be one of them. I can't really comment on Linus's voice as that is entirely subjective. The point they were trying to make here is that despite how apple has made many feel, they are still a soulless corporation, no different than any other.

As is the case for the majority of "race things" (as perpetrated by those in power) in the UK: people are treated differently far more according to class based on how they dress, their accent, their mannerisms, their education etc. than according to race, and there's more under-representation of people from Wales, the West Country and Northern England in well-paying jobs and government than there are by race. I can't speak for the US but I would think it's a lower but still not insignificant proportion.

So first, even here we see foundation money and big tech, not government. Facebook, Google, etc mostly love net neutrality, tolerate encryption, anf see utility in anonymous internet access, mostly because these things don't interfere with their core advertising businesses, and generally have helped them. I didn't see Comcast and others in the ISP oligopoly on that list, probably because they would not benefit from net neutrality, encryption, and privacy for obvious reasons. The EFF advocates for particular civil libertarian policies, always has. That does attract certain donors, but not others. They have plenty of diverse and grassroots support too. One day they may have to choose between their corpo donors and their values, but I have yet to see them abandon principles.

Damn, I heard this mentioned somewhere as well! I don't remember where, though... The CIA is also involved with the cartels in Mexico as well as certain groups in the Middle East. They like to bring "democracy" to many countries that won't become a pawn of the Western regime.

Trying to get my peers to care about their own privacy is exhausting. I wish their choices don't effect me, but like this article states.. They do in the long run. I will remain stubborn and only compromise rather than give in.

Yeah, I don't prefer that. But with some things I feel like it's barely a downside, and I'd put Boxes into that category. It's useful and well-designed enough in terms of functionality that I'm willing to overlook the Gnominess.
