Meta and Google just joined the Heritage Foundation (and a whole bunch of other shady corporations, nonprofits, and large banks) sponsoring the State Policy Network annual event in Louisiana.

A heavily gerrymandered, politically censored, brainwashed, religious, and impoverished populace elected Trump.

Yeah I know. Like I said it's a stupid name, one only Microsoft would ever come up with. Calling it visual studio is redundant now because visual studio code doesn't actually have anything to do with visual studio anymore, it's just an IDE for a load of different languages, none of which necessarily have anything to do with Microsoft or Visual Studio. Yet it still called VS Code. At this point the VS effectively doesn't really stand for anything.

"Emails" It's a messaging system where you pay like $.25/message, you have to be manually approved by the prison to contact the inmate and all messages are saved and screened for things like PII and criminal activity. You can be permanently suspended if either person breaks the rules (I think the inmate can be put in the box and lose gain-time also), the screening process often just rejects things without explanation, and it may take 24-48 hours to be delivered It's better than the $.15/minute phone calls, but it isn't exactly a Gmail account. It's basically another service provider that DOC has given their blessing so that they can fleece the families of inmates. It's cheap, breaks all the time and costs a ridiculous amount. It is completely unsurprising that this happened.

AI is devaluing other skills. I got an email today, from my own company, telling me I wouldn't have to renew my professional certification for 2 years if I passed an unrelated test on AI. The "test" was 10 questions. Glad to know my professional certification is equivalent to a 10 question pop quiz on AI.

You act like they want us to have access to information they don't have full control over. I'm pretty sure that's a really low priority for most of them.

My head canon is that Satoshi Nakamoto... ... is Hideo Kojima. Anyway, Satoshi is the pseudonym used on the original... white paper, design doc, whatever it was, for Bitcoin. There's no doubt about that, I was there back before even Mt. Gox became a bitcoin exchange, on the forums discussing it. I thought it was a neat idea, at the time... and then I realized 95% of the discussions on that forum were about 'the ethics of fully informed ponzi schemes' and such, very little devoted to actual technical development... realized this was probably a bad omen.
