They're both tools created to further Western imperialism and destabilise their respective areas. MacArthur famously called Taiwan America's 'unsinkable aircraft carrier', and through decades of anti communist propaganda and de-sinification and thanks to the vast resources spent on it, it has become way more than just that. If you understand both Israel and Taiwan as extensions of the Western bloc, you will easily comprehend what's going on in their regions and de-spin their narratives.

Tools? First of all, Taiwan is historically 中華民國 (ROC).China is now 中華人民共和國 (PRC). The area known as Mainland China, or the area currently operated by the PRC was under the control of ROC. In fact, it was during a civil war between the two sides that Japan invaded during WW2.
The current government of what is now known as China was being thrashed and the ROC almost quashed the rebellion. However, they put their differences aside to squash the Japanese government. The ROC suffered heavy losses to repel the Japanese.
The PRC separatists took this opportunity to gain ground and pushed the ROC to the island of Taiwan.
The current generation of Taiwanese are historically and culturally separated from the Chinese. The Taiwanese are happy to at least maintain the status quo of two separate entities, with only some from older generations looking to retake mainland China.
Mainland China insists to takeover the island of Taiwan, by force if necessary.

Glad to see people who still have the fire in them. Personally, I’ve lost hope when the so-called 'Never Again' country, Germany, is unconditionally backing yet another genocide. It wouldn’t even make sense in a hardcore dystopian novel, and yet reality has surpassed my darkest expectations.

Very conveniently avoided which foreign entities supported the KMT and financed the militarisation and anti-communist, pro-American retheoric in Taiwan, and there was simply no mention of the decades of White Terror and imposition of martial law and political repression, lol. God knows why, by now, "the current generation of Taiwanese are historically and culturally separated from the Chinese". Yes, it was a moderately successful brainwashing project, I agree. I don't agree with it because of morals, but that's just me, I guess. Okay, "the long-standing current establishment" was ' engineered' (you didn't like the word created) with the same "thorn in their side/military base idea in mind. FFS, there used to be a "United States Taiwan Defense Command", and to this day there are US military personnel stationed in Taiwan. To deny the American Taiwanese project is crazy talk, but some people get paid for it. I hope it's not you!
