I'm sure it has, but I don't recall them publicly giving the Cheetos a gold trinket

Ever been there? It's pretty fucking rough. On 3 occasion across 2 nights we had men threaten, follow or chase us. We actually turned down a side street in case I had to clear my weapon away from the packed crowd. Had never before come close to pulling a gun (didn't). This is coming from a white dude that had no issues or worries working unarmed in South Chicago. Don't get me wrong, I fucking love NOLA culture, but it's the most raggedy American city I've ever seen. Meh, Birmingham may be worse, but I ain't stopping in that shithole. Anyway, I'd still invite folks to visit the French Quarter, Marigny (adjacent), and NOLA in general. There is nowhere in America like it, truly unique. Make time to hit a few cemeteries! You will not regret spending a couple of hours meandering around. Also, eat at the little shitty places downtown. Had the best oysters of my life on that last trip, sucking and scraping the shells like a starving man. I'll add for anyone offended that I occasionally carry, having a concealed gun has bonuses most don't talk about or maybe don't know: The ability to end a life really makes you consider what you're doing, where you'll go, +3 to situational awareness. Despite what one may think of gun nuts looking for an excuse, my conceal carry instructor taught us, "No matter how justified you think you are, pulling that gun may put you in a concrete box for life." Faced with the man who followed us around the corner and "chatted" us up, I was clearly confident, and confidence usually runs bullies off without a fight. (I was actually pretty worried.)

I can already speak to my cat. It's not really an enlightening conversation it's basically him demanding food, or he wants to go outside, or he wants better food than the food provided. That's basically the extent of his conversation skills. I mean he's a cat, he's not exactly going to talk about politics with me is it even if we could translate between our "languages"

I guess that's why you pay your soldiers. In the early summer of 2024, months before the opposition launched Operation Deterrence of Aggression, a mobile application began circulating among a group of Syrian army officers. It carried an innocuous name: STFD-686, a string of letters standing for Syria Trust for Development. ... The STFD-686 app operated with disarming simplicity. It offered the promise of financial aid, requiring only that the victim fill out a few personal details. It asked innocent questions: “What kind of assistance are you expecting?” and “Tell us more about your financial situation.” ... Determining officers’ ranks made it possible for the app’s operators to identify those in sensitive positions, such as battalion commanders and communications officers, while knowing their exact place of service allowed for the construction of live maps of force deployments. It gave the operators behind the app and the website the ability to chart both strongholds and gaps in the Syrian army’s defensive lines. The most crucial point was the combination of the two pieces of information: Disclosing that “officer X” was stationed at “location Y” was tantamount to handing the enemy the army’s entire operating manual, especially on fluid fronts like those in Idlib and Sweida.

Interesting post! While I see the appeal of these platforms, I still find tools like chatgpt português much more useful for creative and intelligent conversations. Just my take!
