Your "perspective" may have been well meant, but to me it reeked of parroting Russian propaganda. Also I get that people used to not want to work for the military. Peace in our time and all that. What civilized person wouldn't want that? But for me that changed when Russia invaded Ukraine again. We cannot afford to just stand by while Russia has their way, and China is waiting in the back to see how it goes. Europe needs to be able to defend itself against aggressors I too thought were a thing of the past. And Europe is working together to achieve that goal. And people who see the military as some sort of establishment that is the enemy can go fuck themselves IMO. AND it remains against everything Turing stood for. So maybe they shouldn't work at a place that honors his memory. But you just go ahead and defend the childishly naive if you want to. But don't expect the least bit of respect from me for tramping all over the memory of Turing, who was an admirable person in every way.

IMO stuff like that is why a good trainer is important. IMO it's stronger evidence that proper user-centered design should be done and a usable and intuitive UX and set of APIs developed. But because the buyer of this heap of shit is some C-level, there is no incentive to actually make it usable for the unfortunate peons who are forced to interact with it. Almost nothing is ever really done on any filesystem when you press "delete". The only thing is that those physical parts of the disk with the "deleted" file are marked as "not in use". The data is there still unchanged, until you save something else and that spot on the disk is the first free spot available for saving that new file. So, if you accidentally delete files, make sure that nothing gets saved on that disk anymore, not even by the OS. So, either unmount the disk, or cut the power to your computer, or whatever. Then learn how to mount hard drives as read-only and how to mark the "not in use" spots on your disk as "this spot contains this file". This is why proper deletion of files always includes filling the disk with random data. As long as nothing has been written on top of where the file was (and in reality: still is), it's still there. Only access to it has been removed, but that access can be regained. Been there, done that.
