Fairly certain what you describe is what they meant with inflation proof, compared to a fixed price. In any case, I imagine most Patreon creators have over time adjusted their reward tiers, or gathered more Patreon supporters to keep up with how Inflation affects their costs, thus giving more to Patreon. Both the company and creators would benefit here. Instead, increasing the (average) percentage just helps the company at the cost of creators. To make their pay keep up with inflation, they still need to either increase the number of supporters or the price of rewards, so the company benefits doubly. Edit: forgot, this change is currently only for new creators. Existing accounts do not need to adjust their pricing (yet) There seem to be enough alternatives that only charge a 5% fee, so this might just lose Patreon money if enough Creators see this as a step too far.

Melon Usk doomed their FSD efforts from the start with his dunning-kruger-brain take of "humans drive just using their eyes, so cars shouldn't need any sensors besides cameras." Considering how many excellent engineers there are (or were, at least) at his companies, it's kind of fascinating how "stupid at the top" is just as bad, if not worse, than "stupid all the way down."

This is terrible news. I also have a keyboard-centric workflow and also make heavy use of keyword bookmarks. I too use custom bookmarklets containing JavaScript that I can invoke with a few key strokes for multiple uses including: 1: Auto-expanding all nested Reddit comments on posts with many comments on desktop. 2: Downloading videos from certain web sites. 3: Playing a play-by-forum online board game. 4: Helping expand and aid in downloading images from a certain host. 5: Sending X (Twitter) URLs in the browser bar to Nitter or TWStalker. And all these without touching the mouse! It's really disappointing to read that Firefox could be taking so much capability in the browser away.

I'm specifically talking about toil when it comes to my job as a software developer. I already know I need an if statement and a for loop all wrapped in a try catch. Rather then spending a couple minutes coding that I have cursor do it for me instantly then fill out the actual code. Or, ive written something in python and it needs to be converted to JavaScript. I can ask Claude to convert it one to one for me and test it, which comes back with either no errors or a very simple error I need to fix. It takes a minute. Instead I could have taken 15min to rewrite it myself and maybe make more mistakes that take longer.
