iOS has a design change, but otherwise there is nothing interesting. Smartphones have been around for a quarter of a century, both smartphone hardware and software are extremely mature.

And that's a good thing, perhaps except for tinkering purposes. I have to rely on my phone for several things throughout the day, sometimes more than I'd like to, so the last thing I need is bugs introduced just for the sake of changing things.

And that's a good thing, perhaps except for tinkering purposes. I have to rely on my phone for several things throughout the day, sometimes more than I'd like to, so the last thing I need is bugs introduced just for the sake of changing things.
I agree. It also means that you can spend $300-$400 on a smartphone and it does everything without lag and at a high quality level. What's more, you can use it for 3-4 years.
There are some niche use cases like specialist smartphone photography and high demand gaming where you might need a flagship, but IMO a relatively small part of the market.

Microsoft is finally coming up with another phone! Its called the pixel 4!
The unique name comes from its great 8K interface taking up 99.999999999999999% of the screen. Its great for privacy because the extremely useful ribbons allow you to share the wonderful 4 pixels of artistic expression.
At 3nm using the latest EUV technology the new pixel 4! Will revelutionice tablets as we know them. I mean phones. The new 3000MP camera is unparalleled! With AI integration all you do is swing the 3equivalent pixel camera around and the single active pixel will use the accelerometer to locate it's position in space while the AI system deconstructs the entire scene. You can make changes on the fly. You can also make changes off the fly and on any other object (that AI has stol...trained on before like a peni..flower or a tit..you know the birds.)

So did I. I actually used a glass UI on XP while waiting for Vista.

About that bit: turns out, basically every CCD (camera sensor) over 30 MP groups 2 and lately even 4 pixel as one, because better lighting saturation and the processor and storage couldn't handle the high resolution anyway. But bigger numbers, you know?
Btw, ever heard about fake transistors in the times where transistor radios were new?

I just got Android 16 via OTA update yesterday. Nothing changed.
Pixel 6a users got a big change to their battery life, on the other hand.
... But gone are the days where the back of the phone pops off using only your thumb and you can just swap batteries.

The one thing I’m continually annoyed about though is battery management.
Why, in this day and age, do we not have a smartphone that can last on a single charge for a week? Instead, after a year or two of use, the devices with a glued in battery can barely last 8 hours on a charge.
Doesn’t seem all that smart.
