Sure, then the post just doesn't need any upvotes, imo. I find mass down votes on such things to be toxic behavior. Tech savvy or not. I mean, it’s basically toxic nerd behavior. And that was just an example on hand. I’ve seen it in other communities too, again, when the news was positive or neutral and fit the community even better than talking about a single web browser in a general tech community. I should add that this phenomenon overlaps with another, where a post will get a bunch of downvotes initially, and then “recover” or get back past zero. Many of these seem to be related to brigading or malicious bot activity. So, many of the examples I’ve run across end up being something else. Just for context, I usually browse Lemmy All and my Home feed with the Active/hot in the last 6 hours view. So I see lots of young posts, relatively speaking.

Hiroshima and Nagasaki is currently livable because the bomb was detonated in the sky, the radiation disappates quickly. In constrast, Chernobyl had much more fuel and since the power plant was on the ground, it contaminated a lot of the soil, therefore, it's gonna take much much longer before Chernobyl is ever livable again. A tactical nuke is a bomb that will detonate in the air, and since its "tactical", its gonna have much less yield. Its gonna be become livable again even quickly than Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

HMD feature phones are such a let down. The Polish language translation within the system is clearly automated translation - the words used sometimes don't make sense. CloudFone apps are also not available in Europe. The HMD 110 4G (2024, not 2023) has the Unisoc T127 chipset which supports hotspot, but HMD deliberately chose not to include it. I know because the Itel Neo R60+ has hotspot with the same chipset. At least they made Nokia XR21 in Europe for a while.

...the ruling stopped short of ordering the government to recover past messages that may already have been lost. How would somebody be meant to comply with an order to recover a message that has been deleted? Or is that the point? Can't comply and you're in contempt of court.

We have to do this ourselves in the government for every decommissioned server/appliance/end user device. We have to fill out paperwork for every single storage drive we destroy, and we can only destroy them using approved destruction tools (e.g. specific degaussers, drive shredders/crushers, etc). Appliances can be kind of a pain, though. It can be tricky sometimes finding all the writable memory in things like switches and routers. But, nothing is worse than storage arrays... destroying hundreds of drives is incredibly tedious.
