I feel like we're skipping steps... This kind of tech is incredible and has huge potential. But it needs vast amount of energy and we're making the planet uninhabitable by the minute. If we first developed tech to have clean energy, I would be overjoyed. Here I feel mostly dread.

Now you are assuming my political beliefs?! Good lord. Self worth and accountability cut across all political spectrums. You're probably right wing for keeping people fat and stupid so they cant march and fight back.

A little background info: Russia's been sponsoring one of its oligarchs' business by eliminating their competition. First, they restricted YouTube's speed to an unusable state to force people to switch to RuTube (they didn't) Now they're trying to force people to switch from WhatsApp (and potentially Telegram) to MAX, which they want to be Russia's version of WeChat. Add the fact that our politicians are obsessed with controlling all of the media and you'll get the gist of it.

The amount of effort vs a handful of toddlers, and people looking bored until they start just laughing. I’d be so embarrassed if I was one of the robots.

Thanks for sharing this, it is an interesting read (though an additional comment about what this about would have been helpful). I want to say I am glad I do not use either of these services but Yandex implementation seems so bad that it does not matter, as any app could receive their data

Best decision ever for a company. The US gov pisses away billions of their taxpayers money and buys all the low quality crap from the MIL without questions.

Make them publishers or whatever is required to have it be a legal requirement, have them ban people who share false information. The law doesn't magically make open discussions not open. By design, social media is open. If discussion from the public is closed, then it's no longer social media. ban people who share false information Banning people doesn't stop falsehoods. It's a broken solution promoting a false assurance. Authorities are still fallible & risk banning over unpopular/debatable expressions that may turn out true. There was unpopular dissent over covid lockdown policies in the US despite some dramatic differences with EU policies. Pro-palestinian protests get cracked down. Authorities are vulnerable to biases & swayed. Moreover, when people can just share their falsehoods offline, attempting to ban them online is hard to justify. If print media, through its decline, is being held legally responsible Print media is a controlled medium that controls it writers & approves everything before printing. It has a prepared, coordinated message. They can & do print books full of falsehoods if they want. Social media is open communication where anyone in the entire public can freely post anything before it is revoked. They aren't claiming to spread the truth, merely to enable communication.
